History
Scottish Care is a not-for-profit organisation set up in 2000 to give independent care providers a single, professional unified voice with which to raise visibility on the most important issues of our times; the provision to sustainable quality care for those who need it most.
In 2006 we provided seed funding to establish Scottish Care at home, which after its successful formation has now integrated fully with Scottish Care to create the largest single membership body for health and social care in Scotland.
Our collective voice enables us to work with key partners in the health and social care sector. We liaise with the Scottish Government around key policy ensuring that we have a focus on sustainable, safe quality standards in the independent sector in Scotland.
We currently have over 400 members from all over Scotland and our numbers continue to grow each year. Our members are private and voluntary organisations who run care homes, day care centres, home care and housing support services and respite care facilities across Scotland.
Providers join Scottish Care because they want to see the best possible standards of health and social care available to all those who use services in Scotland. They feel strongly that working in partnership to share best practice, knowledge and promote professional development for health and social care sector staff is the way to ensure the best care for those who need it.
If you're looking for a care provider, you can find out more about any of our member organisations by using our new Scottish Care, care services search tool at the top of our home page and all other pages within this site. You'll find contact information, links to the Scotland's Care Inspectorate, inspection reports and other useful information there. You may also find our guide to Finding a Care Provider useful.
And if you would like to know more about Scottish Care, feel free to call us on 01292 270240. If you are a care provider register with the Care Inspectorate and would like to become a member, you can do so using our online registration form.
