The ‘Supporting Solace’ project has a number of aims, including:

  • To gain a better understanding of the level and range of palliative and end of life care support being delivered throughout the independent care sector, and any challenges associated with this delivery
  • To identify innovative and best practice around palliative and end of life care provision within the independent sector.

One of the ways we have sought to achieve these aims is through the collation of information relating to local palliative and end of life care projects, partnerships and initiatives.

One of the comments often made by providers is that there is a lack of awareness of what palliative and end of life care supports there are available in local areas.  We also know that local partnerships and national stakeholders are not necessarily aware of the brilliant work that is taking place in relation to palliative and end of life care in the independent sector.

We hope this online resource can continue to develop to share examples of local work and signpost those interested in finding out more to other providers and partners, promoting the sharing of good practice and more joined up working.
