    News: North Lanarkshire Reshaping Care

    3rd October 2012

The North Lanarkshire Reshaping Care for Older People Steering Group has recognised the importance of the independent sector as a major provider of care to older people in their own homes and in homely settings and the key role they will play in achieving the outcomes of Reshaping Care for Older People.  They have allocated funding to

‘build independent sector sustainable individual and organisational capacity in relation to improve outcomes based around six main themes affecting older people’

Part of this funding has been allocated to bring My Home Life to North Lanarkshire. The My Home Life programme (www.myhomelife.org.uk) will work with 15 Care Home Managers who have chosen to participate. Over fourteen months, through relationship-centred and evidence-based practice the package of support will

    1. Support 15 care home managers in North Lanarkshire to deliver quality of life, transformation and voice, choice & control (personalisation) to their residents, relatives and staff through a leadership support programme
    2. Enhance quality of life in care homes by facilitating better relationships between care homes and the wider community and health & social care system
    3. Help create a sustainable movement of care homes in Scotland, to drive forward quality improvement and professional development of staff, in order to better respond to the complex needs and wishes of residents and relatives.

My Home Life is led by Age UK in partnership with City University, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Dementia UK.
