About People as Partners

The project has different strands as it seeks to build capacity around Self-Directed Support for older people within the independent sector.

The Project has identified a number of key areas which we will work on and these will broadly include:

  • Communicating, informing and raising provider awareness of the national strategy for self-directed support
  • Facilitating the development of resources within organisations to deliver on self-directed support including policies, procedures, human resources, information and system solutions
  • Facilitating provider understanding of emerging commissioning models for self-directed support
  • Supporting the development of a workforce fit for personalisation
  • Influencing the growth of an inclusive and sustainable public care sector market

In order to achieve all this, the Project will work on several fronts. We will have information and resources online; we will hold live workshops and discussion forums; we will develop distinct projects on particular pieces of work and develop specific resources in collaboration with others.

Online

  • Resources and information
  • Blogging space and Twitter
  • News and Views
  • Communities of Practice: a number of forums which will help the Project and individuals share information, ask questions and post resources.

Live events

  • Project Partner sessions – these will be held occasionally and will bring together all the members of our Network and others around particular themes of a national importance for older people and personalisation.
  • Project Workshops – smaller in scale, these workshops will be held around the country and will be opportunities for local independent providers to exchange experience on particular issues and to hear up to the moment good practice. (highlight both to link to pages)
